The chocolate that actually tastes like something
Most supermarket chocolate bars exist somewhere between forgettable and fine. Tony's Chocolonely is not that. The Milk Caramel Sea Salt bar is one of those things where the first square is genuinely surprising. The salt hits before the sweetness does, the caramel isn't cloying, and the Belgian milk chocolate underneath has enough depth to hold it all together. My housemate nicked half a bar I'd left on the counter and had the audacity to look unbothered about it.
At 180g, it's a proper size too, not one of those bars that's mostly packaging.
Who this is actually for
If you care about Fairtrade sourcing, this is a spot-on pick. Tony's is one of the few chocolate brands that's pretty transparent about its supply chain, which matters if that stuff matters to you. And at this price point, the ethical premium feels like a non-issue.
That said, if you're after pure dark chocolate intensity, this isn't your bar. It's milk chocolate, it's sweet, and the sea salt angle is more of a lift than a contrast. Not a criticism, just worth knowing.
The honest bit
There's no dramatic reservation here. My only mild gripe is that the uneven chunk sizes are charming in theory but a bit annoying when you're trying to share fairly.
